Escape to this unique holiday cottage in the village of Snainton and have a holiday to remember with your family or friends in North Yorkshire. Situated some 8 miles from Pickering and 9.5 miles from Scarborough, this fabulous holiday home is less than 2 miles from the fringes of the North York Moors National Park and therefore ideally located for country walks and outdoor activities. Plan fun days out to the coast from here as well to Scarborough, with all its traditional seaside appeal, or the quieter beach at Cayton Bay, which is just 10.5 miles from the cottage and a great place for picnics on the sand.

Welcoming six guests, this cleverly arranged holiday property offers spacious accommodation including three bedrooms; it could therefore suit one or two families or a group of friends. It can also be booked together with another nearby property for large parties who are keen to escape together. Take two four-legged friends along with you too if you wish so they can also enjoy getting out and about on long rural hikes. They will also enjoy relaxing at home with you in the enclosed courtyard garden.

Approach this charming village house and make your way into its welcoming accommodation via its reception hall. This space even has a heated cupboard, where you can leave your raincoats and other outerwear to dry off after long, wet, moorland walks. Wander on through into the property, taking a step down into the airy lounge, which offers plenty of room for all members of your party to gather together in the evening. Settle on the sofas in this light-filled room or sit by the window to take in the scenic views. Light the wood burner on chilly evenings then read a few pages of your book or watch the Smart TV for a spell as you bask in its cosy glow.

As mealtimes begin to beckon, head into the kitchen to start thinking about preparing dinner. This capacious room is well equipped with everything you might require during your stay to help you prepare tasty homecooked meals. Gather together round the table to enjoy your feasts and to engage in lively conversations at the end of fun-filled days.

The bedrooms in this village home are all situated up on the first floor. You have a choice between a king-size room, with an en-suite shower room; a double room, with a small bed that could suit younger members of your group; and a super-king-size room, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins if discussed in advance. The family bathroom is also at this level.

Enjoy the European style of the outside space at this inviting holiday home. Sit beside the stone wall, watch the children close to the pond that can be covered (please discuss this in advance) and eat out here or relax with a cup of tea on warm summer days. Parking for up to two cars can be found at the cottage.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 super king-size zip-and-link (can be made up as a twin on request), 1 king-size and 1 small double
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and 1 en-suite shower room with shower and WC
  • Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine

  • Alexa in the kitchen

The vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering, 8 miles from Snainton, is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

Beyond Pickering lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands, which is also a great option if walking is your thing.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend a warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 20 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, youll also find a fantastic day spa here.

The charming town of Kirkbymoorside is 15 miles away with its treasure trove of art and antique shops, tearooms, Ryedale Folk Museum and a great market on Wednesdays. There is a theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land, 11.5 miles away and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 11 miles away.

Visit Scarborough, 9.5 miles away, with its sandy beaches, for a traditional day out at the seaside. Make your way through the historic streets to explore Scarborough Castle or pop into St Mary’s churchyard to visit Anne Bronte’s grave. Enjoy a stroll around the South Cliff area taking in the famous spa and Italian Gardens. Catch the cliff lift down to the beach and walk around to the peaceful North Bay, visit the renowned Sea Life Centre or explore the beautiful Peasholm Park with its boating lake, woodland walks and oriental influences.

The old railway line which ran from Scarborough to Whitby is now a stunning cycle and walking route and is the perfect choice if you feel like a coastal walk taking in some spectacular scenery.
