Book a stay at this delightful stone holiday home set in Snainton, North Yorkshire, and indulge in long walks across dramatic moorland and through swathes of mature woodland. Located approximately 8 miles from the lively market town of Pickering and 9.5 miles from the seaside resort of Scarborough, this stone holiday home is also less than 2 miles from the end of the magnificent North York Moors National Park.

Plan forays out through your picturesque, countryside surroundings, as well as family trips to the coast. This property sleeps four people in accommodation that includes two bedrooms. It also welcomes one canine companion, making it ideal for dog-loving guests, and can be booked with another nearby cottage, which could suit those seeking a group holiday.

Make your way up to this traditional barn property and enter to find accommodation that has been carefully configured for your enjoyment and your comfort. Open the front door onto the reception hall (taking care as you do so to avoid the low lintel) and come right in to make yourselves at home. Leave your boots, shoes, jackets and coats in the hall then amble on through into the main living areas.

Head into the lounge to unwind for a while before you start to unpack and make plans for your exciting break. This comfortable room will also be the hub of your holiday home during the evening; the perfect place to relax after long days out in the fresh air, it is where you will be able to settle on the sofas, catch up on your day, read your book for a while and perhaps enjoy a film on the Smart TV. On warm days, open up the external doors in here to enjoy the fresh spring and summer Yorkshire air.

Make your way through into the kitchen as well, to find another great space with everything you need for your stay at this village home. Prepare meals here for your party and enjoy the presence of the dishwasher, which means no one has to wash up. A washing machine could also prove invaluable, especially after damp and muddy moorland walks. Prepare tasty feasts then serve up to your party at the dining table inside or out on the terrace whenever the weather permits.

There is a convenient ground-floor WC at this holiday home, plus a family shower room up on the first floor. Make your way up to this level to discover both the bedrooms as well. One of these is an inviting king-size room, while the other has a zip-and-link double bed that can be divided into 2’ 6” twins if arranged in advance.

Spill outside into the glorious Yorkshire sunshine on fine days. Bask in the warmth of the enclosed courtyard area over your first cup of coffee of the morning and choose to dine out here too as often as possible. There is bicycle storage at this property and parking for two cars is found on the road.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as 2'6'' twins on request)
  • 1 shower room (upstairs), 1 WC (ground floor)
  • Electric hob/oven, fridge (with ice compartment), dishwasher, washing machine and microwave
  • Welcome pack provided
  • On-road parking for 2 cars
  • Patio with outdoor furniture
  • Under cover bike storage available with locks
  • Butchers, chip shop (which both sell a small selection of everyday essentials) and pub within 0.5 miles and supermarket 7 miles
  • Can be booked alongside Joby Cottage
  • Please note - due to size of walls, phone signal can be poor internally
  • EV charging is not permitted at this property
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

The vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering, 8 miles from Snainton, is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

Beyond Pickering lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands, which is also a great option if walking is your thing.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend a warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 20 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, youll also find a fantastic day spa here.

The charming town of Kirkbymoorside is 15 miles away with its treasure trove of art and antique shops, tearooms, Ryedale Folk Museum and a great market on Wednesdays. There is a theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land, 11.5 miles away and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 11 miles away.

Visit Scarborough, 9.5 miles away, with its sandy beaches, for a traditional day out at the seaside. Make your way through the historic streets to explore Scarborough Castle or pop into St Mary’s churchyard to visit Anne Bronte’s grave. Enjoy a stroll around the South Cliff area taking in the famous spa and Italian Gardens. Catch the cliff lift down to the beach and walk around to the peaceful North Bay, visit the renowned Sea Life Centre or explore the beautiful Peasholm Park with its boating lake, woodland walks and oriental influences.

The old railway line which ran from Scarborough to Whitby is now a stunning cycle and walking route and is the perfect choice if you feel like a coastal walk taking in some spectacular scenery.

Joby Barn was fantastic- comfortable, well laid out and absolutely immaculate especially for a pet friendly accommodation. The owners were in touch prior and provided all we needed to know and some advice for the local area. Snainton where it is situated is lovely and an ideal location for travel. Thanks for a great holiday.

Super barn , easy to find and hosts who are on their game when it comes to hospitality. My wife and I also our cavalier spent new year there and honest it was just so chilled and quiet. There are plenty of things to do around the area ,but also great selection of books just to idle the day away.

Lovely stay at Joby Barn. We are a family of 4 and a dog and chose the Barn because we know how well situated Snainton is to surrounding coastal towns. The barn is of contemporary decoration but not losing its rustic barn charm. To only hear the sound of Horses in the morning is lovely and peaceful.
