Sleeping four guests across two bedrooms, you’ll have plenty of on-site facilities such as a friendly shop and cafe, and the bustling town of Masham is a short 1-mile walk away with its plethora of shops, galleries and curiosities including two well-known breweries. It is the ideal destination for those with a love of the outdoors and a thirst for adventure, but you’ll just as easily while away a few hours with gentle scenic strolls and hearty pub lunches.

Beneath the charming exterior is a marvellous sanctuary characterised by sloped ceilings and timber beams. This rustic appeal offers a surprising contrast to modern touches such as underfloor heating and ambient lighting that blend effortlessly together to create a homely atmosphere. Kick off your boots after navigating the surrounding landscape, pouring a soothing glass of red wine and curling up on the deep, plush sofas to watch TV. On chilly days, the open-plan living space is cosy and welcoming, inviting you to snuggle up with hot chocolate and treats galore.

Channel your inner celebrity chef and cook in the kitchen area, appreciating its stylish decor and wooden worktop space. You’ll have an electric oven and hob for preparing hearty meals plus a microwave for quick suppers, and there is no need to squabble over who does the washing up thanks to the dishwasher. Store your spoils in the fridge/freezer, stocking up on essentials from the various shops you’ll encounter on your travels as well as rummaging through your welcome pack of goodies too. Light candles and gather around the table for special dinners, lingering over delicious dishes and chatter that lasts well into the night. On the nights that you are simply too weary to consider cooking, why not bring home a tasty takeaway to give yourself a well-earned break?

Weary from a day of adventures, there is nothing nicer than a long shower in the contemporary bathroom, washing your worries away and indulging in your favourite toiletries. Both bedrooms are restful havens with a TV apiece when you are ready to retire for the night’s sleep. You can be as flexible as needed for your party, choosing to set the beds up as twins or a super-king-size bed. Large windows allow natural light to pour inside through the timber-framed glass, casting a warm glow throughout your sleeping quarters that benefit from high ceilings, original beams and useful storage.

Wake up to the glorious sound of birdsong, slipping outside into the dappled sunshine to perch at your bistro-style table on the patio. The surrounding grounds of the seasonal caravan site are a delight to explore, and a short 1-mile walk will bring you into the centre of Masham with its pretty shops and eateries. In terms of practicality, there is a handy on-site laundry block as well as a shop and a cafe for when you want to pick up some essentials and enjoy a coffee. Off-road parking is provided for one car, but there’s more space available in the main parking area.

Masham, a thriving market town, is where handsome old Georgian buildings gather politely around a cobbled square. The square is one of the largest and finest in England, famous for its sheep sale where in the past as many as 70,000 sheep were sold every year! The popular Masham Sheep Fair is held in September each year and commemorates these times.

There are lots of delights to discover in the town including an excellent fine dining restaurant, a host of lovely cafes, a top-notch wine shop and several very good butchers. And if you enjoy a tipple or two, it's also home to two award-winning breweries: Theakston’s and Black Sheep. Both have visitor centres where you can take brewery tours, sample their ales, enjoy excellent food and perhaps take a few bottles home for later too! A lovely nine-hole golf course awaits if you enjoy a round of golf.

Heading west will take you over the high ground of Nidderdale and down into Pateley Bridge, 15.5 miles away, a very popular and bustling market town. To the south, why not visit the cathedral city of Ripon with its vibrant Thursday market – just 9.5 miles away? Just over 5 miles in the opposite direction takes you further up into Wensleydale with the wonderful Jervaulx Abbey and Brymor ice-cream parlour just a short drive away.

The town is also a short drive (around 8.5 miles) from Middleham, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once the childhood home of Richard III) it's also a centre of racehorse training and known as the 'Newmarket of the North'. There are 14 stables open to the public every Good Friday and you can also arrange tours for some on request. If you are there early on most days of the week, you can see the horses being ridden through the town up to the gallops every morning. And to top it off, there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Or how about a morning visiting the charming market town of Leyburn which is just over 10.5 miles away? Leyburn is a typical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to Tennants Auctioneers, the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. Discover its newly opened cafe and restaurant serving excellent food along with its gift shop and galleries.

The nearby historic town of Richmond (14.5 miles) is similar in many ways and has a lovely setting along the River Swale. Highlights include Richmond Castle, the historic Georgian Theatre Royal and The Station (a lovely old building housing a cinema, art gallery and brewery).

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Little Wickets. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both around 17 miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance – 17.5 and 22.5 miles respectively, so you have lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling, too.
