True decadence awaits in this loft-style property for two, a real gem in the stunning Yorkshire countryside. Benefiting from a truly rural location, the property is located on the outskirts of picture-perfect Kirkby Fleetham, an equidistance of 10 miles between the bustling hub of Richmond and the vibrant Northallerton. Wonderfully situated for all sorts of outdoor adventure, you can effortlessly access the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks when staying right here.

This sympathetically converted coach house is extremely handsome with neutral colouring and countryside-style accents throughout. On arrival, you’re instantly met by a spacious gravel drive and a covered entranceway with a bench for perching to take off muddy boots.

From here you can step inside and up onto the first floor. A handsome open-plan living space awaits right here, sitting beneath a vaulted ceiling with authentic wooden beams up above and the beautiful addition of traditional arched windows. The windows present unrivalled views out across the garden and estate, perfect for watching the world go by.

Plush, deep-seated sofas welcome you to curl up and get comfortable in the property’s lounge space. Complete with an antique trunk-style coffee table at the centre, this area offers an entirely pleasant spot to get stuck into a book or to sit and chat over your favourite tipple. For those who love to enjoy an evening jam-packed full of films and TV, the Smart TV is on-hand with all of the streaming services available to log into.

In this open-plan space, you’ll also find a contemporary kitchen complete with ample worktop space and plenty of storage for packing away your groceries. With an attractive kitchen island in the middle, this lovely kitchen invites any budding chef to get stuck in and prepare something delicious.

When it comes to dining, you’ve got two spaces on offer for sitting down together. Those more easy-going meals, breakfast or lunch perhaps, can be easily enjoyed on the high stools at the breakfast bar. If you prefer to make more of an occasion of it, you can set the dining table for two over by the window and tuck in with a delightful view of the surrounding landscape.

Having filled your evening with great food, conversation and entertainment, we’re sure that you’ll be ready to head to bed. Decorated throughout with the same sense of style and opulence, the property's bedroom and bathroom can be found just downstairs.

Laid out as a super-king-size with decadent furnishings and sumptuous soft linens, this bedroom offers an uninterrupted 8-hours of rest. When you wake up in the morning you’re immediately greeted by beautiful views of the lake, an instant reminder of your idyllic location.

The cottage bathroom sits just next door. Whether you relax by taking a long, hot shower first thing or sinking into a bubble bath late at night, this room has got you covered. Find a walk-in shower unit with a rainfall shower head and a magnificent roll-top bath just opposite.

Surrounding the property is a wide selection of stunning gardens, vibrant woodlands and a lake where fascinating wildlife will no doubt reside. Spend your time wandering around these private grounds to discover the very best of the Yorkshire countryside without even needing to leave the accommodation.

As the property’s name may suggest, lovers of all-things equestrian will be thrilled with a stay here. The property sits next to adjacent paddocks and stables with resident horses simply waiting to be fed a sugar lump or two.

The chocolate box village of Kirkby Fleetham (1 mile) is an excellent place to stay in North Yorkshire’s Hambleton, an effortless 10 miles from Richmond and Northallerton and benefiting from rural beauty all around. The village is best known for the commanding Kirkby Fleetham Hall and Estate, a Grade II-listed wedding venue which attracts many guests through the summer months. Take a walk around this fabulous estate before heading to the village pub for a pint of something local.

Richmond (10 miles) is a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river - less than a mile - are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 17.5 miles away near Middleham.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey is just 9 miles away. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking historic sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, 22 miles, a World Heritage Site.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close by. And with York, Harrogate and the North York Moors all within easy striking distance (under an hour’s drive on a clear run) you have lots of choice for day trips!

The mattress was sadly terrible, hence 1 star for comfort. No support, very poor quality. My husband slept on the sofa! On our last day we were given another mattress, but a smaller size. I hope that the owner has since replaced the mattress following my ongoing complaints to owner and agent. Also there was not enough crockery. However, the locatioRead moren is good, the loft was warm, staff were nice. A shame the mattress totally impacted the quality of our holiday. A good bed should be fundamental! Hide
