Sleeping four guests, and welcoming four-legged friends, the two-bedroom, stone retreat sits close to the shores of the scenic Gouthwaite Reservoir and is ideal for anyone wishing to follow the Nidderdale Way, which runs directly in front of the property.

Nestled 6 miles from the bustling market town of Pateley Bridge, home to a variety of independent shops and cafes, the hideaway is also well positioned for family days out to beauty spots such as Brimham Rocks, 10 miles away, or historic sites including Fountains Abbey, 5 miles away.

Step into this delightful cottage, with its gorgeous, exposed beams and wooden floors to take make yourselves immediately at home in its inviting, characterful lounge. With a stone floor and charming open fireplace, with an original bread oven, this is the perfect place to relax after your long walks or cycle rides. Light the open fire, switch on the Smart TV and soak up the cosy ambience and the views.

When mealtimes arrive, wander through to the kitchen/diner to find it equipped with everything you need to prepare tasty meals with the fresh Yorkshire produce you have bought. Gather round the table in here for lively dinners together and to discuss the following day’s activities.

When it is time to turn in for the night, head upstairs to either the king-size bedroom or the twin, both featuring lovely original beams. The family bathroom is also up here.

To the front of the cottage is a pretty patio area with furniture where you can enjoy your morning coffee or dine out in the fresh air in the summer months. There is also shared use of a lawned area with picnic tables where you can listen to the sound of the stream babbling by and enjoy the panoramic countryside views. Plan trips into Pateley Bridge, 6 miles from the cottage, to enjoy the many charms of the little market town, which is very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop; everything you need to stock up and keep you going during your stay. You’ll also find the self-proclaimed Oldest Sweet Shop in England, dating back to the early 1800s, here.

The cottage sits at the heart of the breath-taking Nidderdale landscape; this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is immediately adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance, including the Coldstones Cut, 7.5 miles away. This is a huge sculpture with an array of platforms from which visitors can view both the spectacular quarry hole and limestone quarrying operation below and the Nidderdale surroundings.

Visit the cathedral town of Ripon, 16 miles away, with its castle overlooking the town below. Take a spa day or have a massage at the Turkish baths in the cosmopolitan town of Harrogate, 19 miles from the cottage, timing your visit with the Great Yorkshire Show, where local farmers and craft-makers showcase their way of life and their produce on a grand scale. We loved Lakeview cottage. It is charming and finished to a high standard. We found it very comfortable and within the cottage we found loads of information on the area of which we took full advantage. The perfect cottage for a stay in the Yorkshire dales. Great location and perfect for dogs. The photos do not do justice how lovely the cottage is. We throughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future. Would highly recommend.

Feel very lucky to have found this lovely cottage; the decor, furnishings and artwork on the walls are all beautiful and so tastefully put together. The setting is utterly stunning. A truly stunning cottage in a beautiful location! Kirsty is the perfect host, we arrived to gorgeous treats, fresh eggs, milk & wine. Kirsty has thought of everything, a real home from home. Kirsty welcomed us warmly on our arrival and was always on hand if we needed any help but otherwise we were left to ourselves which we liked. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable and the local produce left for us to enjoy appreciated. We found Nidderdale peaceful and within reach of all the places we wanted to visit - Brimham Rocks & FountRead moreains Abbey are close by. We enjoyed lovely walks from the door including one to Pately Bridge and would recommend The Sportsmans Arms for a meal. Hide
