Surrounded by verdant countryside and quaint towns and villages, this barn conversion is set on the outskirts of the rural village of Castleton, lined with pretty cottages and with the River Esk winding through. Head directly onto the Esk Valley Walk from the doorstep of this country cottage and explore the 7.5-mile route from Castleton to Lealholm, which boasts incredible scenic panoramas, or take to two wheels and join the North York Moors Cycleway (4.5 miles). Escape to the coastline with the charming beaches of Robin Hood's Bay, Sandsend and Staithes all within 19 miles, or venture to the intriguing town of Whitby (15 miles), the inspiration behind the novel, Dracula. Pretty, colourful streets, welcoming pubs, cobbled lanes, the impressive abbey and a sandy beach promise a romantic day out. If you need to refuel, the charming village of Castleton is a natural beauty with a delightful tearoom and the Michelin recommended, award winning pub, The Eskdale. A little further afield is The Lion Inn (6 miles), serving food and drinks with impressive views, and boasting a variety of nearby footpaths to explore.

Step inside this one-storey barn conversion and take in the surrounding countryside as you go. Modern design has been cleverly blended with original features including vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, and the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the heart of this retreat. Prepare a romantic meal for two in the fully equipped contemporary kitchen, where every amenity is at hand to make cooking feel easy and enjoyable. Share your creation at the nearby dining table, which has been carved from the farm's own ash tree and offers bench seating. Snuggle up by the glow of the wood burner and watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV or listen to some chilled tunes on the Bluetooth speaker before you head off to bed. The king-size bedroom is spacious and designed with fresh colours for a sublime night's rest. The en-suite shower room, complete with a shower and WC, is just as modern and a welcome sight after chilly days of exploring.

Outside, climb into your very own wonderful hot tub and gaze upon extraordinary views of the North York Moors countryside. There's also a bistro-style table for al fresco dining, should the weather be so kind. This gorgeous getaway also benefits from private parking for one car.

Literally everything was provided, from coffee machine and pods, a toast rack to kitchen roll. We were pleased it turned cold one day so we could use the log burner too.. Thank you so much for a very relaxing stay in the loveliest of surroundings. Hide

A lovely cottage with a wonderful view. The Cottages have been renovated to a very high standard. Very impressed with the decor and a fully equipped kitchen. Loved our stay and the pub at the end of the road was a bonus! Would highly recommend and will not hesitate to go back when we visit Castleton again.

Stunning stay at a really beautiful cottage. All the little added touches to the cottage (dishwasher tabs being provided, towels etc) was a really lovely touch. The location means you can make it as energetic or as relaxed as you wish, at your own leisure. Would recommend time and again.
