Beautifully finished throughout, this modern townhouse is the perfect venue for special celebrations with friends or family in popular Helmsley.

Set in the idyllic market town of Helmsley at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, this beautiful three-bedroom townhouse boasts spacious accommodation over three floors. With the town's charms just a stone's throw away, this is the perfect holiday home for those who enjoy everything on the doorstep, with stunning countryside within walking distance too.

Tucked away just behind the market square in this chocolate-box town, the property is a stylish and contemporary holiday home offering three spacious bedrooms (each one with a private shower or bathroom) and elegant, comfortable living areas. Step inside the handsome sandstone exterior to find a property which has been immaculately presented.

On the ground level, you'll find the large inviting living room, complete with a cosy multi-fuel stove to curl up beside. Warm oak flooring is underfoot, and you have the choice of two comfy sofas and a chair to stretch out on. A Smart TV with DVD is provided for those family movie nights, and Wi-Fi is included too. Music is provided with a radio CD player and you can play your favourite tunes on the iPod docking station.

The ground floor is also home to the bright and welcoming kitchen/diner. Set at the rear of the property, the kitchen features striking dark units, a sleek granite worktop and a kitchen island, making it a lovely space to cook and entertain. All mod cons are provided including a dishwasher, double oven and fridge/freezer. The dining table sits by the window and offers a light-filled space for those noisy family breakfasts or memorable evening meals. This floor houses a handy cloakroom too.

Down to the lower-ground level to discover a further sitting room/snug with an additional Smart TV with DVD. Perfect for teenagers to escape to (or grown-ups too!). This room leads directly out into the courtyard garden via patio doors. You'll find a separate utility down here with an additional sink - it also houses the washing machine and laundry facilities.

Next door is the first of three bedrooms, a handsome room featuring a super king-size bed which can also be configured as two singles if required. This room has an en-suite shower room with WC. The remaining two bedrooms are up on the first floor. There's a sumptuous master bedroom with a double bed, his and her wardrobes, a further TV and an en-suite shower room. And finally, a cosy twin room just perfect for kids or adults who enjoy their own space to sleep. The family bathroom sits next door and features a jacuzzi bath.

Outside, there is a small enclosed garden to the front and a larger courtyard garden to the rear. On a summer's day, it's a delightful sheltered space to enjoy dining alfresco with a patio table and chairs provided for you. Pick up some goodies from one of the several delis in town and settle down with a bottle of fizz. There's also a bike store if you want to explore this stunning countryside on two wheels. If you'd like to make use of this, just let us know in advance.

The cottage has one dedicated off-road parking space - something of a rarity in Helmsley!

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 ground-floor super king-size (can also be made up as 2 singles on request), 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 ground floor en-suite shower room, 1 en-suite shower room and 1 bathroom
  • Double oven, hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher
  • Washing machine in utility room
  • Smart TV and DVD, CD player and iPod docking station
  • Off-road parking for 1 car, further street parking available nearby
  • Garden with seating
  • Bicycle storage if arranged in advance
  • Regret no pets
  • Travel cot and highchair
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Pub and shop within a mile

The property is set just behind the square in the attractive market town of Helmsley, a real picture-postcard place with lots to do and see. Nestled perfectly at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, but just 24 miles north of York, its timeless elegance is a magnet to the Yorkshire elite.

Helmsley is a foodie’s heaven, packed with exquisite tearooms, cafes and on organic delis. It's also surrounded by some of the best gastro pubs in the UK. Tucked alongside these culinary delights are a myriad of unique shops, art galleries and antique dealers, easily enough to build up an appetite for lunch. Throw in a castle, a chic little micro-brewery and some of the most stunning countryside in the UK into the mix, and you might just have the perfect holiday location.

At the heart of the town square is a statue of Lord Feversham, a distant ancestor of the current Lord who resides in Duncombe Park. This stunning baroque mansion sits on the outskirts of town (1 mile) and is a good choice for an afternoon's sightseeing. If you want to indulge some more architectural desires, the equally grand Nunnington Hall, 6 miles south-east of the town, is another grand abode worth a peek.

The neighbouring town of Pickering (13 miles) is similar in many ways and is host to its own delightful set of shops, cafes and restaurants. 4 miles further on takes you to Thornton-Le-Dale - a chocolate-box North York Moors village with thatched houses and a sleepy little brook. Stop for some ice cream here and remind yourself how relaxing life in the slow lane feels like.

With the North York Moors on your doorstep, you can be heading for a jaunt over the hills in no time. This glorious expanse of the heather-clad countryside is simply stunning, and it's well worth taking some time to explore it properly. Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still covers an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales, you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but it’s cast in comforting soft focus.

You're also close to Castle Howard (13 miles), York (24.5 miles) and the Yorkshire coast, so lots of choice for day trips.

A very comfortable cottage, well provided for in a pretty location. Owner very helpful . Only possible change would ask is for weekend changeover (Sat or Sun) rather than Friday - traffic on roads if you are travelling any distance into Yorkshire is much worse on weekdays.

Very noisy neighbours to the left of the property towards feversham arms. Loud banging and arguing into the early hours of the morning. Kept us all awake not relaxing

Response from Gorgeous Cottages:

Hi Sarah, thank you for your feedback which we have addressed with you directly. I would like to confirm we have spoken to the owner, who has contacted her neighbour directly who has assured her this was a one off occurrence and will not happen again. I look forward to welcoming you back to Yorkshire again soon. Take care, Maureen.

September 2018We spent a wonderful week at Rose Cottage at the beginning of September. The cottage is beautiful, extremely comfortable, very spacious and well equipped. The location is superb with everything you require practically on your doorstep. Although there were just the two of us, the cottage could easily accommodate six people very comfRead moreortably. We thoroughly enjoyed lovely walks during the day and then visiting different eateries in the evening for a lovely meal before taking a short stroll back to the cottage to relax with a glass of wine and watch a DVD. Gorgeous cottage in a very convenient location in Helmsley. Kitchen dining area is a little small - 6 chairs in an area that is sized for 4, but with bakery/cafes/pubs etc. around the corner we only used it for breakfast and occasional light meals. Welcome basket of food/wine was a nice touch but foRead morer us the addition of toiletries in ensuite bathrooms would have been a better option. Accommodation is on 3 levels with bedrooms on lower and upper levels. Unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues but perfect for additional privacy for families. Bathroom facilities on all levels a big plus. Open parking for one car at rear of cottage is best for a medium/compact car to avoid blocking neighbors' garage access. Street parking was usually available before 10 am and after 4 pm. Overall, a well presented cottage in a lovely area. Highly recommended.

Response from Gorgeous Cottages:

Hi Gail Thank you very much for your 10/10 review it is very much appreciated. We do agree the location of Rose Cottage is ideal. The table can be extended however the owner usually sets it up to accommodate the number of guest staying at the cottage but next time you stay, she will set this up to its maximum size for you. The owner does provide a rather lovely welcome basket using local produce. Some of our guests do prefer to bring along their own toiletries due to skin types, however this is something that will be taken on board. Our guests do arrive in all types of car, shapes and sizes and usually all is fine, however we believe you have met one of the elderly neighbours who during your stay required a little more room than the norm to exit her garage. We are delighted you thought the cottage was lovely and you would recommend to others. Yorkshire has so much to offer and we do hope you come back soon.Take careMarion Burns Hide
