A haven for walkers and nature-lovers, this cosy cottage is a comfortable base for exploring some of the Dales villages and the surrounding countryside.

Tucked away in the sleepy hamlet of Healaugh in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this traditional stone cottage is the perfect hideaway for families and couples. Surrounded by undulating hills and breathtaking natural beauty, it’s the perfect property for those who love the great outdoors and want to explore on foot or by bike. The rural location offers beautiful views and unbridled tranquillity, but despite the quiet surroundings, you are only 1.5 miles from Reeth, which is often referred to as ‘the capital of Swaledale’. In addition to stunning panoramic views and scenery, Reeth also has also has a range of shops and restaurants to choose from and a regular market. This area of Yorkshire is popular with both walkers and cyclists, boasting a number of trails and routes to choose from. Other outdoor activities are available at centres in the area, such as fishing, canoeing, caving, climbing, abseiling.

Brimming with charm and character, this beautifully presented cottage has been sympathetically restored. In keeping with the building’s heritage, natural materials, such as wood and stone, are used throughout, as are the original features that have been incorporated into the overall look. Neutral tones bring a relaxing atmosphere to each room, whilst traditional-style fixtures and fittings add class.

Stepping into the hall, you’ll find the flag-stoned floor is the perfect place to discard muddy boots and coats. Down the step and at the end of the hall is the cosy, welcoming lounge – the ideal place for snuggling up of an evening in front of the wood burner. The hub of the house is the farmhouse –style kitchen/diner, which is well-equipped with everything you’ll need to cater for you and your guests. The dining table offers plenty of seating for everyone to dine or socialise together.

Upstairs, there are two gorgeous bedrooms: one king-size and one twin. Again, modern styling and original features sit side-by-side to create a unique and welcoming feel. Completing the accommodation is a large family shower room with basin and WC.

Heading outside, you’ll appreciate the stunning views from the enclosed garden to the rear. Enjoy a spot of alfresco dining on the patio against a wonderful backdrop, whilst the kids and/or dog enjoy running around the lawn. There is roadside parking available outside the property or on the adjacent village green.

Lovely cottage, in a perfect location. Nice walks along the river to Reeth. Kids and dog enjoyed swimming in the river next to the stepping stones which are only a few minutes walk from the cottage. Lovely enclosed garden for the dog. Reeth had nice places for ice-cream, coffees, cakes and several pubs which did good food.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location right in the midst of Swaledale. We walked into Reeth in the evening for a pub meal and it is a lovely 1/2 hour walk through the fields. It was a very convenient centre for walking and was extremely comfortable and clean.

We had a lovely week at Skoggins Cottage - it is super cosy, welcoming and a great base for the week. Waking up to the views was a total joy! Particular recommend the CB Inn, and Two Dales Bakery in Reeth. Worth noting internet connection is very poor - and television relies on internet to work. For us - this was disappointing as visiting in the AuRead moretumn means your evenings on the sofa are fairly crucial, but not an issue for everyone I'm sure.
