Contemporary and inviting apartment ideal for a small group situated moments from the golden sands of Filey beach.

Situated near the quiet, coastal town of Filey on the Yorkshire coast, this charming apartment is a lovely retreat for couples or small families. It’s the ideal place to relax, as the golden sands of Filey Bay’s vast beach are only a short stroll away. For those looking for a little more adventure, walkers can appreciate the unbridled sea views from the wild and rugged Yorkshire coast path or water sport enthusiasts can take to the water in a canoe. Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast is located to the south and is home to a nature reserve, which makes it popular with wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers. It also has two historic lighthouses, which are steeped in interest, so historians will be at home here too. Venturing further afield, there is more to be discovered in Scarborough and Bridlington (both within 10 miles). Filey itself (a 3-mile drive and a shorter walk) has quirky independent shops, a range of eateries and a museum within its Edwardian architecture. As one of the quieter towns on the Yorkshire coast, it’s a great place to unwind away from the crowds. For a family day out, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park or Playdale Farm Park are both within 8 miles.

This modern apartment is bright and airy throughout, with white walls and décor create stylish contrasts with the occasional splash of colour here and there. It is a spacious property, allowing you to relax in comfort.

After parking up and ascending the staircase, you will find yourself in the bright kitchen/diner which has all the mod-cons you’ll need to cook up some meals and treats. There is also ample seating around the dining table and well-chosen wall décor adds character and reflects the coastal setting. Next door, there is a spacious lounge with plenty of light flooding in through the two windows. Comfy sofas provide the perfect place to snuggle up of an evening and one is a sofa bed suitable for an extra stowaway. The TV is equipped with the whole Sky package and a DVD player, so you can catch up on all your favourite programmes, but for those who like a little competition of an evening, there is also a selection of games.

The double bedroom also leads off the kitchen/diner and its nautical scheme is well-suited to the location. There is a king-size bed and a single bed, making it ideal for young families, and the sea views are wonderful to wake up to in the morning. The contemporary family bathroom is a good size and is well-presented. All the rooms are clean and modern and have been finished to an excellent standard to ensure you have a comfortable stay.

There is allocated off-road parking for one car. Please note: There are two further properties at this location.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The property has a fabulous location on Yorkshire coast, with all of the delights of Scarborough within 10 miles, including its gorgeous sandy beaches, cafes and restaurants.

Make your way through the historic streets to explore Scarborough Castle or pop into St Mary's churchyard to visit Anne Bronte's grave. Enjoy a stroll around the South Cliff area taking in the famous spa and Italian Gardens. Catch the cliff lift down to the beach and walk around to the peaceful North Bay, visit the renowned Sea Life Centre or explore the beautiful Peasholm Park with its boating lake, woodland walks and oriental influences.

The old railway line which ran from Scarborough to Whitby is now a stunning cycle and walking route and is the perfect choice if you feel like a coastal walk taking in some spectacular scenery.

Sitting at the eastern foot of the North York Moors, the region's dramatic landscape of heather and open moorland is just a short drive away. Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors still cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the dales you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the moors. In place of harsh limestone and dramatic peaks, you'll find gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but it’s cast in comforting soft focus.

The rest of the Yorkshire coast is also close by. Much like its Cornish counterpart, the North Yorkshire coastline is a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket and spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact, the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

This region is best known for the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby (29 miles). Playing host at one time to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the river Esk and dominated by the 13th-century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Robin Hood's Bay (26 miles) is also worth a visit with its own unique charm.

The property was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. We holidayed with our dogs and the location could not have been better with easy access to Filey Beach which can be walked for hours depending on the tide.

Our hosts Andy and Gill gave us a very warm welcome and we felt at home straight away. Lovely property with plenty of space and a view of the sea from the bedroom window. Excellent location as only 10-15 minutes walk to the beach, and a short walk along beach to Filey. Very good Sky TV package.
