Resting in the rural village of Leppington, within the grounds of the owners' home, this retreat offers two guests a homely base for some adventures in the Howardian Hills AONB and North York Moors National Park, which are within 20 miles. Venture into the Howardian Hills AONB to the amazing 18th-century Castle Howard stately home set within stunning grounds. The village of Leavening (2.5 miles) is home to one pub, with more scattered in the surrounding area and plenty more in the town of Malton just 8 miles away. Malton is known as 'Yorkshire's Food Capital' so foodies can delight in browsing the Malton Monthly Food Market.

Adjacent to the owners’ home, yet with privacy assured, a shared gravel drive gives access to this converted stable barn. Step inside into a welcoming entrance with plenty of space to hang coats and leave behind your shoes. The cosy living space incorporates the lounge and dining area whilst a separate kitchen is generously equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Take your home-cooked meal over to the dining table to savour whilst planning your next adventure. After dinner, snuggle up on the sofa and listen to some music on the Bluetooth speaker or pick a movie to watch on the Smart TV, warmed by the heat of the wood burner-effect electric fire. When the night calls, the bedroom has a comfy king-size bed and plenty of storage space for you to pack away your things. The shower room is beside the bedroom and features a large shower enclosure and WC.

Outside, there is a private decked terrace where you can dine alfresco on the bistro table for two, which is also the perfect spot to enjoy the morning birdsong with a brew. Relax tired muscles after a long day of walking by sinking into the bubbling water of the hot tub. There is off-street parking provided for two cars.

With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
