Set in a pretty and historic North Yorkshire village, this spacious, comfortable and inviting holiday home is an ideal base for couples or small families wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

Welcome to this stylish and very spacious two-bedroom luxury holiday home set in Middleham, one of the Yorkshire Dales' prettiest villages. Bright elegant interiors combined with an idyllic location make it the perfect choice for couples and small families alike.

Just around the corner from the market square in this gorgeous little village, famous for its racehorse stables, you'll find the handsome double-fronted exterior of the cottage. Step inside to discover a contemporary light-filled home which welcomes you in from the moment you open the door. As you enter, the generous living room is set to the left. This peaceful room has double aspect windows and a cosy wood burner at its heart as well as the choice of a comfortable sofa and two armchairs to curl up on. Grab a glossy magazine, settle down by the fire and enjoy an afternoon all to yourself in here. For your entertainment, there is a large Smart TV with Freeview, Netflix and built-in radio.

To the right, is the open-plan dining and kitchen area. Again, there's lots of space to enjoy with light streaming through the large sash window to the front. The kitchen has a charming country-cottage feel with its cream units and wooden worktop. The cupboards are well equipped with everything you'll need to cook up a storm, and all the usual mod cons are provided including a dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. On a sunny day the ornate circular dining table is bathed in sunlight and is a delightful place to eat. Take your time over the morning papers in here, or plan which Yorkshire attractions to visit over a glass of wine.

Both bedrooms in the cottage are upstairs.  The master bedroom features a super-comfy king-size bed dressed in the finest crisp bed linen. An easy chair sits by the original fireplace, a great spot to just sit and watch the racehorses make their way to and from the gallops each day. The second bedroom sits opposite and boasts a super king-size bed which will be set up as two singles unless you request it to be a double. Elegant colours and sumptuous furnishings continue the luxurious feel. There is a further snug room upstairs set to the rear of the cottage, the ideal place to squirrel yourself away in with a good book. The house bathroom is also upstairs. It comes complete with a bath and shower overhead, perfect if you fancy an indulgent hot soak after a day's walking in the dales. Fluffy white bathrobes are provided for that luxury hotel feel.

Outside the cottage, you'll find a sheltered attractive rear courtyard garden, a real suntrap in the summer months. It's completely enclosed so very safe if you have little ones with you. Outdoor furniture is also provided if you fancy lunch alfresco. If you want to stretch your legs, you can be within the glorious Wensleydale countryside in under a mile.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

White Cottage is set in the heart of Middleham village in Wensleydale, one of Yorkshire's loveliest villages. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several racehorse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being led through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Opposite the cottage is a charming tea room if you fancy an afternoon treat, and for dinner, you can opt for a local pub or perhaps some Italian food. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just a few miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner (3 miles). Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

In the opposite direction, you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn (2 miles). Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond (13 miles) is similar in many ways and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Warwick Cottage. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both within 10 miles and the gorgeous villages of West Burton (10 miles) and Askrigg (14 miles) are within easy driving distance, so there is lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. There are plenty of options for cycling too in this Tour De France country.

Overall it was a great cottage, good location making for a really good stay. High standard of furniture, equipment, linen and towels. A lot of thought has gone into the decor. Unfortunately there was a problem with the plumbing which meant every second/third time loo was flushed the kitchen tap made an appalling noise that could be heard upstairs Read moreand the tap had to be wiggled to stop it. Toni got a plumber out on our last day and it turned out to be the water meter which they couldnt touch! Toni was incredibly helpful and responsive (10/10). There was also a problem with the heating that came full on in the first night due to a power cut just as we arrived but she came out the next day to reset it.We left a note saying it would be great if there was a boot brush in the boot box and a larger kitchen bin (the current one is far too small) and a salad bowl. There is a yapping dog behind the cottage which is annoying if you are there in the day but it is quiet at night. Hide

The cottage is beautiful but the courtyard garden had a lot weeds in the paving and there was so much bird muck on surfaces that if I had a child we would not sit out there. This was a build up over weeks rather than days and whilst I appreciate this is nature, it really should have been washed awRead moreay. I had to wash all the garden furniture myself before we could use it. This I didnt expect to have to do considering the amount we had paid for the cottage. The shed also needs cleaning out. This is v surprisingly as apparently a gardener calls every week. This was all more than a weeks worth of weeds. Weeks more likely. Everything else just lovely. (Carpet in lounge is quite stained - just for you to note).

Response from Gorgeous Cottages:

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. I do agree, White Cottage is beautiful. I have spoken with the caretaker regarding the points you have raised regarding the garden. There seems to have been a mix up with the gardener and he didn't complete the work in the garden as planned. He had thought another member of his team had been to the cottage and completed the work when he passed by. I do apologise for the error. I will call you to discuss this further.
