Illuminated Abbey, Whitby, 25th – 31st October
As the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby Abbey is a spooky place to head to for Halloween – especially as there will be a Victorian undertaker on-site. It’s also beautifully lit-up for the occasion.
Ghostly Treasure Hunt at the Moors National Centre, Danby, 23rd October
Locate various ghosts to learn more about the National Parks scary folklore. Get all the answers right and there’s some treasure to be won.
NYMR Halloween Trains, Pickering, 26th – 29th October
These special Halloween trains will travel from Pickering to Levisham with activities, storytelling and spooktacular characters. Each journey will last about an hour.
Fear in the Forest, Dalby Forest, 29th October
Various creatures will be roaming the forest during this dark November night. Don’t worry though as you’ll have a guide to help you get around safely.
The Halloween Adventure at Stockeld Park, 20th – 31st October
This year there are 3 fright nights which include a scary wooden cabin and a terrifying farm house – definitely not for the faint-hearted. If you prefer things a bit less terrifying try going when the maze is illuminated with thousands of fairy lights and solving the spell of the witches in the forest.
The Curse of The Black Pearl, Mother Shipton’s Cave, 21st – 29th October.
Apparently the curse is getting stronger as we get towards Halloween and you’ll find ghosts and ghouls galore. Kids will love getting dressed up and getting involved in the daily fancy dress competition.
Halloween at Flamingo Land, 14th – 29th October
There’s a range of Halloween fun at this popular theme park with pumpkin carving, firework displays and more!
Hallowscream at the Yorkshire Maze, 13th – 31st October
Always a popular choice for Halloween the new attraction for 2017 is being transported to a post-Trump nuclear apocalypse populated by zombies. Definitely sounds like a nightmare to me!
Halloween at the York Dungeon – various dates throughout October and November
Events include Trick or Treat walking tours around York led by an array of dark characters from York’s past, ghostly cruises on the River Ouse and a York Dungeon City Bus Tour which takes in some of the city’s most infamous locations.
Creepy Halloween at Castle Howard – 21st October – 5th November
Castle Howard’s about to get spooky as you get the chance to explore the uninhabited East Wing of this stately home. Rumour has it this wing is haunted so don’t be surprised if you encounter some ghostly activities on your trip.
Halloween in the Dales, Kilnsey Park Estate, 21st October – 29th October
Perfect for half term; kids can enjoy face-painting, campfire stories, a pumpkin hunt and lantern making. Once the lanterns our ready there’s a short walk round the woods to test out their glow.
