We had the pleasure of a Spa day at the newly opened Swinton Estate Spa this month. This stunning multi-million pound Yorkshire Spa is set just outside the handsome market town of Masham within the 20,000 acre Swinton Estate. It boasts world class facilities and treatments including a rather fabulous outdoor natural pool.
With its central location in Nidderdale and various day Spa options available, its the perfect indulgence for holidaymakers to North Yorkshire. Here’s our top 5 reasons why it should be on your next holiday’s itinerary….
#01 Location, Location, Location
Set within the Swinton Estate in Nidderdale, making your way to the Spa is a pleasure in itself. Nidderdale is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where rolling green hills peppered with pretty towns and villages en route start to soothe the soul before you’ve even arrived. We recommend stopping to explore nearby Masham, a gorgeous little market town just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Spa.
#02 World Class facilities
We loved the design and attention to detail in the overall look of the Spa, but it was the volume of facilities which impressed. Inside you’ll find an excellent gym, large indoor swimming pool, thermal suite with two steam rooms, an indoor and outdoor sauna, a hyrdrotherapy pool and an outdoor natural swimming pool and hot tub. Upstairs you’ll find the dedictated treatment area with relaxation and treatment rooms. More than enough to while away a full day. Spa days offered include mini, half and full day options, as well as special shared Spa days for more than one person.
#03 Indulgent Treatments
I enjoyed the Bamford De-stress Massage, a 60 minute experience designed to calm body and mind with a shiatsu massage combined with Swedish back massage. It was a hour of sheer heaven. There are lots of other treatments to choose from including various salt scrubs, detox wraps and several just for men and Mums to be. There’s also a full range of beauty treatments provided in the Beauty Cottage, if you’re in need of a wax, spray or general tidy up.
#04 The Terrace restaurant
This brand new restaurant sits within the grounds of the hotel next to the Spa. We dined here for lunch and the food was superb, and no wonder as Swinton Park is the home of the fantastic fine dining restaurant Samuel’s. Some of the Spa days include lunch or dinner at The Terrace, which is a real treat in this contemporary handsome restaurant – much of what’s on your plate comes from the Estate’s 4 acre walled garden.
#05 Say hello to the Deer
There are few UK Spas which afford the opportunity to meet fallow deer face to face. The 20,000 acres of parkland here at Swinton support around 200 of these delicate creatures, including several bucks. Take an early morning stroll before your treatment to see if you can find them. There are also extensive gardens and a Druid’s Temple folly to discover.
You can find out lots more information about the Swinton Estate Spa on their website, where you’ll find details of all their Spa Days and Treatments. If you want to book a stay nearby, take a look at our gorgeous Cottages in Masham, Ripon, Pateley Bridge and Bedale.
