Romantic by name, romantic by nature; Darcy's Cottage is a divine one bedroom bolthole just outside of York. With a cosy wood burner in the lounge and a bathroom to die for, it's the perfect romantic escape.
Darcy's Cottage is set behind Holtby House, a beautiful Georgian manor house in the centre of a pretty Yorkshire Wold's village. This luxury cottage has a lovely aspect looking out onto a sunny courtyard to the front. Inside you'll find a gorgeous bespoke kitchen with granite worktops, stone floors and period range. This leads onto a comfortable lounge complete with its wood burner and comfy leather sofa. There are all of the creature comforts you would expect including Wi-Fi, LCD TV / DVD Player and Bluetooth radio.
The master bedroom is on the first floor up a charming wooden staircase. The star of the show here is the king-size antique bed and lovely large window looking out onto the courtyard. The en suite is truly stunning, with a French bateau bath and enormous walk-in shower with rainfall shower head.
To the front of the cottage sits the courtyard which is a real sun trap, perfect for a spot of al fresco dining or a pre-dinner drink in the summer months. There is a BBQ available for your use if required.
Darcy's Cottage is set in the village of Holtby, a charming little village in the Yorkshire Wolds less than 15 minutes from Central York. You have the best of both worlds here, the delightful small village atmosphere of old Yorkshire twinned with the vibrant city of York.
Holtby is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area has to offer. Still a relatively quiet location in terms of tourism, the Yorkshire Wolds are a range of beautiful low rolling hills rising from the river Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head, peppered with countless pretty villages and towns. A favourite with David Hockney, it inspired many of his greatest works including 'Bigger Trees Near Warter in 2007' - his largest ever work.
The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.
The Wolds are home to many historical homes and religious sites, as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. The Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast are also all within easy driving distance from here and make for a great day trip.
