Set in 35 acres of gorgeous rugged moorland just above the Spa town of Ilkley, Ilkley Pump House is one of Yorkshire's most unique and impressive luxury holiday cottages. Once a pump house belonging to Yorkshire Water, this old building has been given a 21st Century 5 Star make-over. And there's a hot-tub with views to die for! Get ready to fall in love with this seriously stylish romantic retreat.
Step inside the Pump House and you will immediately sense the quality of this conversion. The decor is elegant, contemporary and of exceptional quality. With its underfloor heating, solid oak floors, doors and stairs, it's a dream holiday home for lovers of luxury and comfort.
Let's start with the fabulous handmade kitchen. Sitting in a bright open-plan space and painted in exquisite Farrow & Ball greys it boasts a huge kitchen island and all mod cons, including a Quooker [hot water tap] It's a great kitchen for a cook and the bar stools provide the perfect spot for a pre-dinner glass of bubbly.
Moving along into the generous living room which again has bags of space and is wonderfully light. Snuggle up on the cosy sofa and catch a movie on the large LCD TV with Sonos sound system. Settle down on the stylish leather armchair with a good book, every once in a while glancing out the window at those stunning views. In the warmer months, throw open the large bi-folding doors and experience the moorland from the comfort of your living room. Electric blinds are another nice touch, if you ever want to block out that view!
Downstairs also has a utility room & WC. There's a Belfast sink in here as well as a washer dryer, a handy addition if you've been out hiking across the moors with wet ground underfoot.
And so to bed. Make your way up the solid oak staircase, so warm and comfortable underfoot, to the magnificent bedroom. Take a moment to enjoy the lovely handmade King-size bed, dressed in the finest bed linen it's a bed you simply won't want to leave. There is also a beautiful free-standing bath in this room, indulge in a long hot soak after a day exploring the Dales. Next door sits the fabulous wet room; fully tiled in Italian marble it feels more like a 5 Star Hotel in here, with waterfall taps, a monsoon shower and solid granite surfaces.
So now you've explored the stunning interiors, let's take a look outside. Wow, 360 vistas across heather and hill, with cosmopolitan Ilkley nestling far below you. There's a terrace and a BBQ provided - perfect for al fresco dining in the summer. And of course the star of the show, the hot tub. Watch the evening lights come to life all around as the stars start to twinkle far above, all from the comfort of your warm bubblies. A wonderful way to end the day.

And if you like to keep one foot on urban ground, head down into Ilkley for the day. Highly regarded for its stylish architecture and beautiful floral displays, there's plenty to see and do in this elegant Victorian town. Take a turn around the gardens down by the river, indulge in afternoon tea at Betty's, explore the many independent shops and boutiques, making sure you pick up something yummy for tea and the several up-market delis in town. And for the nights when cooking seems like too much effort, book dinner in the Michelin-starred Box Tree or head for an Italian on the cool roof Terrace of Piccolinos.
If you want to venture a little further Ilkley Pump House is ideally placed to explore the historic market town of Skipton and the exquisite Yorkshire Dales beyond. It's a true walker's paradise here and you are very close to the famous Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside.
If you're more of a roamer than a rambler try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey. These striking ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. Top it off with dinner in the Burlington restaurant found in the Devonshire Arms close to the Abbey.
This area of the Yorkshire Dales is home to many charming villages and towns worth exploring. The pretty cobbled streets of Grassington are close by, with the village of Kettlewell just a little further. Take the high ground up and across to Wensleydale where you will discover the picture post-card village of West Burton and the beautiful Aysgarth Falls.
And if you want to explore Yorkshire's cities, Leeds is just a short drive away and is packed with designer shops, cafes and top notch restaurants. The gorgeous town of Harrogate is also just a few miles and well worth a day trip. There is just so much to see and do here.
