An idyllic and romantic retreat in this converted coach house on the grounds of an 18th Century stately home conveniently located between two National Parks - The Dales and Moors.

Resting on the outskirts of the rural village of Kirkby Fleetham, within the grounds of the magnificent Kirkby Fleetham Hall, this retreat offers two guests a homely base for some adventures in the North Yorkshire Countryside. The North York Moors are 23 miles east and Yorkshire Dales 18 miles west, making this an ideal base for keen walkers and cyclists. Within the grounds are beautifully landscaped gardens, a lake, St Mary's Church and a private woodland which you are free to roam. Kirkby Fleetham is 1.2 miles and has a gastro pub serving local real ales and good food. Northallerton is the nearest town with its abundance of shops and tea rooms or head towards Richmond with its cobbled market square, Norman Castle and popular market selling local produce, both within 10 miles.

Adjacent to the hall, yet with privacy assured, a shared gravel drive gives access to this renovated for 2022 coach house. Step inside the entrance with plenty of space for coats and muddy boots. The main living area is up the stairs where you can appreciate the splendid views through the arched windows of the landscaped gardens and lake. The lounge has impressive beamed ceilings and is the perfect place to return to after a day of exploring the dales with comfy sofas and a Smart TV for your entertainment. You can rustle up home-cooked meals in the kitchen/diner equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine. Enjoy your meal at the dining table or take it outside to a bistro-style table beside the lake. When it’s time to get a good night's rest, head downstairs to the beautiful bedroom that overlooks the lake, with a super-king-size bed you can really stretch out in. The shower room is next door with a shower cubicle and WC, great for getting a refreshing start in the morning.

Guests have access to the phenomenal gardens with manicured lawns, well-stocked borders and a lake. With a varied landscape of windswept dales, heather-clad moors and dramatic coast, interspersed with picturesque towns and villages, vibrant cities and a rich historical heritage, Yorkshire is rightly considered one of Britain's premier holiday destinations. Known as 'God's Own County', Yorkshire has nearly one-third of England's National Parkland, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three sections of coastline designated as Heritage Coast.

Offering infinite opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors, the wild expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North and West Yorkshire is a glorious mix of awe-inspiring scenery, imposing castles, characterful Dales' villages and drystone walls. While to the east, the North York Moors National Park offers atmospheric moorland, fragrant pine forests and charming towns tucked away within steep-sloped valleys. Extending all the way to the Yorkshire Coast, you can even experience a traditional day at the seaside at popular resorts including Whitby, Flamborough and Scarborough. It's a beautiful terrain to explore.

A visit to the historical city of York is a must. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the magnificent York Minster and a myriad of museums, independent shops and exceptional eateries, you will not be disappointed. Then there's the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, known to have inspired David Hockney. And with a packed calendar of events and festivals each year, including the Malton Food Festival, the Tour de Yorkshire and the Great Yorkshire Show, there's always something exciting to enjoy.

Our holiday cottages in Yorkshire are handpicked to ensure a luxurious and uniquely memorable experience. From dog-friendly cottages in the country to large family houses by the sea and romantic retreats in the city, we have a holiday in Yorkshire to suit everyone.
