Goathland in the North York Moors is a pretty village near Whitby has been a big hit with TV fans since the early 1990s, having served as the chief shooting location for Heartbeat. This little town is instantly recognisable and draws in enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of the dashing 1960s policemen and women. Goathland has a station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, another film locale which doubled as Hogsmeade in the early Harry Potter films. Close to Goathland is Wades Causeway, a walking trail that cuts across the beautiful and stark Wheeldale Moor, a great place to enjoy extended treks into the wilds.
