About Warwick Cottage
Warwick Cottage is a stunning 2-bedroom luxury holiday cottage set looking directly out onto historic Middleham Castle. With its pretty village location, elegant Farrow & Ball interiors and handsome sheltered garden, we think you might just fall in love with this gorgeous period cottage.
Character, elegance and charm, Warwick Cottage has all three in abundance. The subject of a recent refurbishment, this beautiful old building has been completely transformed into a stylish and comfortable holiday home.
Let's start in the spacious sitting room with its peaceful tones and classic furnishings. You'll love the heated flagstone flooring underfoot and the wonderful stone fireplace complete with a wood-burner for those cosy evenings in. Sink into the comfy sofa while you choose a movie from the selection on Netflix. Or perhaps dive into one of the coffee table books while you put your feet up with a nice cup of tea. There's also a lovely dining table here by the window; watch the stable boys walking the race-horses up through the village to the gallops over lunch. Wi-Fi is provided as is all the wood for the stove.
Stepping through to the adorable bespoke kitchen with its powder blue units, marble work-top, Belfast sink and perfectly pitched breakfast bar. Plenty of contemporary comforts too including a dish-washer, washer/dryer and microwave. We are also rather fond of the Jamie Oliver glassware and stable door. Set looking out towards the garden and the castle beyond it's a great backdrop to breakfast or that pre-dinner glass of bubbly.
Working your way upstairs you'll discover a roomy mezzanine-style landing which offers a quiet space to work or read. And just off here the fabulous master bedroom. This graceful and stylish room looks out to the front of the cottage and over the village. Soft greys, whites and lime-washed stripped floorboards combine to create a calm and relaxed ambiance. The super-king size bed is dressed in the finest White Company bed linen and features a top of the range HYPNOS mattress. The en suite is open plan and sits up a step from the main bedroom. In here you'll find an impressive walk-in shower and WC. Complimentary toiletries and super-soft fluffy bathrobes are provided too.
The second bedroom is on the second floor in the eaves of this luxury Yorkshire cottage. Another very generous room with a super-king size bed which can also be set up as two singles if preferred. This room is en suite and features a beautiful roll to bath just perfect for those indulgent evening soaks. The view from up here is superb, you can see right across the village to the castle and the wonderful Wensleydale countryside beyond?
Following on from the elegant interior out into the garden, an immaculate sheltered space with a fantastic view of the Castle. Something of a sun-trap, there is a pretty patio area complete with a BBQ, chimenea and small lawned garden scented with a lavender border. What better place to enjoy a lazy lunch al fresco in the warmer months.
This property requires payment of a £150 security deposit.
Warwick Cottage is set in the heart of Middleham village in Wensleydale, one of Yorkshire's loveliest villages. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several race-horse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being lead through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. We love it so much it features in our Top 10 Prettiest Yorkshire Villages - the perfect location for a holiday cottage!
Opposite the cottage is a charming tearooms if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner you can opt for pub grub at the Richard III traditional pub or perhaps some Italian food at the renowned White Swan. You can order a take-out pizza from here too. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just a few miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.
In the opposite direction you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond is similar in many ways, and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.
There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Warwick Cottage. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country. Our concierge will be more than happy to recommend some walks and cycle routes for you if required.
And when you need to refuel stop at one of the areas many excellent gastro pubs. Our favourites include the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton and the Blue Lion at East Witton, all within a short drive of the cottage.
