We’ve taken lots of bookings recently from solo-travellers, photographers, cyclists and explorers – all wanting to experience a little luxury while discovering the beautiful landscape of Yorkshire. You can enjoy time out to relax and unwind, go exploring in the heather-clad moorland of the North York Moors or take a walk amongst the wild landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. The beauty of a holiday for one is that you can do exactly what you want to during your gorgeous Yorkshire getaway.

This unique property is part of a Palladian style model farm near Leyburn that dates back to Georgian times and the bijou accommodation includes a round window in the bedroom so that you can wake up to spectacular Wensleydale views. The grounds here include a walled garden that guests are welcome to take a turn around and a wood-fired hot tub to soak away any aches after long walks in the countryside.
Darcy’s Cottage
Secluded but not remote, Darcy’s Cottage is within striking distance of York, so there are great transport options within easy reach. Xanadu
If you fancy being in the heart of a market town with everything you need on your doorstep then Xanadu could be just the solo holiday home for you. This Grade II listed cottage has been transformed into a sophisticated and colourful urban pad and better still it has a prime spot in popular Richmond.
You’ll find lots of cafes, shops and restaurants within walking distance along with a historic castle, theatre, art galleries and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Blakey View Bothy
You’re surrounded by the lovely landscape of the North York Moors on a getaway to this Grade II listed bothy near Danby. You can walk to a nearby station and take a scenic train ride through the Esk Valley to Whitby on the Yorkshire coast.
With walking trails on your doorstep you can explore heather-clad moorland at your leisure and there’s a local pub and shop within a mile of the bijou property. Once you’ve done exploring for the day there’s a private terrace at Blakey View Bothy where you can sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Yorkshire countryside.
Hidden Gem
Perfect for solo-travellers who yearn to be beside the seaside, Hidden Gem is tucked away in the heart of Robin Hoods Bay. The super cosy cottage dates back to the 17th century and features an original cast iron fireplace and characterful exposed beams.
A variety of shops, cafes and pubs are within a 5-minute stroll including a great fishmonger offering seafood fresh off the boat. And when you want to feel the sand between your toes, simply follow the street from the front door down to the sea – no need for a car here.
Claro
You can spend time in the heart of one of North Yorkshire’s most vibrant market towns on a getaway to Claro in Masham. This stylish holiday home features high ceilings, sleek floors and pops of colour throughout. Exposed beams help to add the wow-factor to this 5-star holiday cottage and you’ll find art galleries, independent shops and even a couple of local Yorkshire breweries on your doorstep.
Brown Hare Cottage
This cosy and compact cottage has been beautifully converted from an original farm building and is nestled in rolling Nidderdale countryside near Ripon. Brown Hare Cottage is just one mile away from Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with riverside paths, mirror-like ponds and an extensive deer park to explore. Aygill Farm Cottage
This gorgeous little cottage looks like it has come straight from The Holiday so is the perfect spot for recharging the batteries and taking a bit of time away from the rat race. At the heart of this home-from-home is a large inglenook fireplace and with comfy sofas and a country kitchen there’s everything you need for a solo break. An outdoor terrace comes with a spectacular view over Kisdon Hill and the property is surrounded by beautiful hayflower meadows and grazing sheep.
Wren
Located on the banks of a gently flowing river, Wren is a charming countryside retreat with an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area and a separate king-sized bedroom. It’s located in the pretty Wensleydale village of Little Crakehall with a historic working water mill as part of the owner’s larger estate and an assortment of shops and pubs in nearby Bedale. There’s a patio with BBQ to enjoy during the warmer summer months and a lawned area where you can lay down a rug for a picnic by the river.
The Snug at Glasshouses Mill
This ground-floor apartment is located within a historic Nidderdale building in the pictureque village of Glasshouses, just a couple of miles from Pateley Bridge. The stylish accommodation is modern and bright with wooden flooring and exposed beams adding to the luxurious feeling of the property. Glasshouses Mill is located on the banks of the River Nidd and walking trails to try from the doorstep include the Nidderdale Way and the Six Dales Trail.
