10 of the Best Yorkshire Restaurants with Rooms

#01 The Coach House, Middleton Lodge

Coach House Middleton

The Coach House at Middeton Lodge is a restaurant, spa and boutique hotel which can be found just off the A1, close to the village of Middleton Tyas. Part of the impressive Middleton Estate which was built in 1780 by local architect John Carr it has been beautifully restored over the last 30 years and is set in 200 acres of beautiful countryside. The restaurant itself has a seasonal menu designed to use local produce and incorporate ingredients directly from the estate grounds.

#02 The Angel Inn, Hetton

Angel Inn Hetton

The 500 year old Angel Inn is full of character and charm and its high quality food has attracted visitors from far and wide (it was even featured in BBC 1s The Trip when Steve Coogan and Rob Bryden popped in for breakfast). Located just 5 miles from the market town of Skipton you’ll find low beams, nooks and crannies plus a log fire which is perfect for frosty nights. As for the food itself you can choose from the informal Bar Brasserie (where specialities include a 7 day matured steak and The Angel’s famous Moneybags seafood parcel) or the more formal restaurant which has a three rosette a la carte menu.

#03 The Cleveland Tontine, North York Moors

Cleveland Tontine

Originally built in 1804 as a resting place for travellers on the Yarm to Thirsk turnpike, the Cleveland Tontine is now one of North Yorkshire’s finest restaurants. It has an elegant champagne bar which is perfect for a pre-dinner tipple and offers a beautifully stylish fine dining experience. Whether you choose to sit in the vaulted ceiling Bistro (complete with stone fireplace) or the light and airy conservatory (for a more al-fresco feel) you can choose from an impressive menu that includes Whitby Crab and Yorkshire Lamb to showcase some of the region’s best seasonal produce.

#04 Yorebridge House, Dales

Yorebridge House

With its picture perfect setting by the edge of the River Ure in Wensleydale, you’ll soon see why Yorebridge House was voted the most romantic hotel in the UK by Mills & Boon. We recommend a candlelit meal for two in the sumptuous restaurant possibly followed by a moonlit stroll along the riverbank. On the menu you’ll find Whitby Halibut, Scarborough Lemon Sole and Yoredale Lamb amongst other local delicacies.

#05 The Carpenters Arms, Felixkirk

Carpenters Arms Felixkirk

The Carpenters Arms is a traditional pub located within the small village of Felixkirk which is close to Thirsk. With stone walls, dark wood and low beams it offers everything that you could want and more from an English country pub. It’s dog friendly so perfect if you don’t want to leave your four legged friend behind and has an outside terrace giving great views of the surrounding countryside. As for the food on the menu, you couldn’t get more local –much of the produce has come directly from the village of Felixkirk itself.

Wensleydale Heifer

This boutique hotel and restaurant has a fabulous location in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is close to both Leyburn and Hawes – two small towns that are well worth a visit. The restaurant has a great view of the rear garden and with two AA rosettes you’ll find pub food at its best with both traditional favourites and more sophisticated treats.
